“Princess Trainer” by the mysterious Akabur stands out from the morass of freebie amateur visual novels thanks to its creator being a professional artist (and also his willingness to go directly at the notoriously litigious Disney). But the game’s popularity in perv communities isn’t just owed to eye candy; it’s also written pretty well (as these things go), is genuinely funny at times and even the pirated soundtrack selection is fun and well-chosen.
We start the game off in control of Genie, who is now a horny human (for reasons that will gradually be revealed over the course of the game). As such, he accepts a job offer from Jafar: break Princess Jasmine in with “slave training” and make her submissive and obedient ahead of their wedding. Also, for the sake of padding, you have to raise enough money to finance the wedding for some reason (doesn’t this guy have all the money and resources?) and also ruin her reputation with the people of Agrabah by having her engage in public acts of lewdness and harlotry.
The princess starts out with a predictably poor attitude about the whole affair, and her disposition must be improved via classes at the conveniently located Slave Training Academy (don’t recall this from the movie). But the classes cost money, which means making the princess work at a variety of jobs; quests that pop up can also be lucrative.
So it’s essentially Princess Maker but much more lewd, with far fewer paths through the game and much more forgiving and easy. The map locations are not labeled for whatever reason and consist of a bunch of nondescript buildings which is annoying at first, but there’s really not much to learn and it’s simple enough to memorize where everything is. Aside from that, the game is somewhat on rails and seems to have relatively few potential setbacks let alone outright failure states. You can prioritize doing different things, but it all ultimately leads to the same places and there does not seem to be an overall time limit.
So it’s more about just enjoying the overall good-looking and well-written ride instead of any sort of gameplay depth. The length actually seems to be pretty substantial; about the time that you’ve fully crushed Jasmine’s spirit, you get the other two girls picture on the title screen in your stable and it appears that you can eventually romance a couple of the ladies in town as well. However, after grinding down Jasmine I just didn’t have the heart nor the gumption to repeat the process over again twice.
