Akabur’s follow-up to Princess Trainer continues with the same universe and theme, but packs the sex trafficking genie off to the world of Horny Potter.
The setup is that the genie bungles up some spell in Agrabah and manages to swap bodies with Dumbledore in the Harry Potter dimension somehow. Unable to reverse the spell and forced to wait some unknown period for it to wear off, he decides to make the best of his position by sampling the co-eds of Hogwarts.
Of course, given that Hogwarts was basically middle/high school in the books, some creative liberties have been taken with the setting; it’s now more like college, and Hermione resembles the Lindsey Lohan edition much more than Emma Watson. Snape quickly figures out that Dumbledore is an impostor, but enlists the genie to go along with his scheme of ruining Hermione and her house, which the genie decides to play along with just because he’s bored while stuck here apparently. Of course, he’ll do what he does best – train her to be a BDSM submissive with a penchant for prostituting and public lewdness. Very logical and cool.
So, sounds like another setup for a Princess Trainer world with lots of options and side quests and such? Yeah, unfortunately, not so much. This game is actually a major disappointment considering the depth of content and effort seen in the previous outing.
There’s just so little going on, and it takes forever to get to it. You’re trapped in Dumbledore’s office the entire game, at first with only Snape to visit you … it takes a couple of in-game weeks for Hermione to start appearing, let alone being able to do anything with her. Weeks and weeks and weeks of in-game time goes by with nothing to do but paperwork for money during the day, and drinking with Snape (usually to no purpose but relationship grinding) at night. It’s almost a jarring lack of depth compared to Princess Trainer.
It was also released unfinished, apparently. A “tutoring” mode for Hermione was supposed to add some meat to the sparse early going of the game … but try to do it and the developer just admits in-game that he didn’t finish it, not only that but it makes Hermione mad at you which takes a bunch of money to fix. Thanks bud.
I’d understand this more if this was a first or early effort for Akabur, but the fact that it immediately followed the much more polished and intricate Princess Trainer is kind of mindblowing. It really feels like an endless tutorial mode that you can’t get out of. At least it’s freeware I guess.
