We’ve seen bootleggers strip-ify nearly every sort of game on the Famicom … this time would you believe … Donkey Kong Jr.? We join the adventures of Rapey Climber (already in progress) as he scrambles up a series of ladders to rescue damsels in distress … funny thing is, the salacious pic accompanies each level rather than being a reward for completing it!
They made six of these disks, but they all appear to be the same thing … just with progressively tougher levels and a new set of pics per disk. I only tried the first three, let me know if I missed something in Vols. 4-6, thanks buds.
Anyway, these things are not the most compelling of games. You alternate A and B to make yon duder climb the ladders, and I’m not sure if its the emulation or intentional design but it seems not to register some of these button presses. Making for annoying going as the game increasingly targets you with falling objects that you have to jump to another ladder segment to avoid. I’m leaning toward intentional design given the game would be too simple and easy otherwise.
