How to Emulate: Sharp X68000 Emulation Guide

This title is the follow-up to a much simpler prequel for the PC-98, leveraging the more powerful Sharp hardware to kinda be the Street Fighter 2 to the first game’s Street Fighter. Kudos to Agumix for putting the focus on making a very solid fighting game first and worrying about the “special attractions” second, though there are enough hinks to both that I don’t know if it’s worth bothering with overall.
It’s very much like Strip Fighter 2, you pick from a roster of girlies, you beat the other girlies up and are rewarded with two (2) topless shots for your efforts after a successful match (at least on the default difficulty). This has much more of a cute anime bent though. The erotica content does not appear to go farther than exploded tops, and is done in a rather cartoony and silly style that isn’t really all that sexy. Additionally, some of the characters look to be of .. uh .. rather questionable age to be in such a fighting tournament, though once their shirts explode they look legal (or at least morally arguable) from the neck down at least. The CG gallery off the menu captures whatever pics you’ve seen, even if you don’t complete the game (you seem to get a similar draw of girls in your order of opponents on each run, but not exactly the same).
In terms of the fighting action, it’s surprisingly good both for a title developed for older computers and a hentai game. It’s nowhere near the uppermost tier of more mainstream fighting games, though. Most gals have at least one obnoxious special move with really long invincibility frames, and when their health goes critical they just spam it over and over. Some have easy counters, some don’t, but if you don’t know the special moves you’re at a real disadvantage in some matches.
I think this one would be better if you can get a HD image to load somehow and get a gamepad working with it (not a trivial task in some emulators). Given the added layer of general emulation headaches (primarily seven floppy disks worth of switching between matches and some long load times), I don’t think the gameplay or the pics are enough to be worth the effort. Does have a very decent soundtrack though.
