SurVive! is like a time management Red Dawn, except the invaders are some sort of aliens and you’re managing a sort of Fox Force Five of horny women. Well, at first you only get one woman. You have to send her out on “explorations” to find more compatriots, and the overall goal is to accomplish 12 missions (via a combination of scouting, finding the right characters and gathering the right materials) within 45 game days.
You play as some sort of unseen girlboss who gives orders to the women, one order for each of the four time segments of each game day. Your exploring and mission-doing will have to be balanced with the various needs of each girl: sleep, food and water, mental stimulation, and since this is a Plumflower entry, their Horny meter.
On that lattermost point, the girls can be ordered to satisfy their urges with themselves and each other. That gives you a pretty nice animation in the cabin on the next turn segment; in general the character art is really pretty well done here. The other source of “H” is via the in-game computer, where a shady website sells pics of the various girls in exchange for points earned from a tedious shooter called “Butt Slam.”
The concept is interesting, I’m always up for a good time management game. But outside of the character animations the game is extremely threadbare, giving you almost no sense of the game world outside your little one-room cabin and doing little to fire the imagination. It’s like The Apocalypse but you never go outside and just navigate everything from MS Excel.
Compounding this is a kinda clunky UI and just a general disjointed sense of how to get anything done or what your goals are. “Exploring” is absolutely necessary to get anywhere, and seems to be what you’ll spend the most character time on, but it seems like a crapshoot at terrible odds. For me nothing ever happened but the game claiming I raided an enemy camp or otherwise found resources, but then it didn’t appear that I got anything new in my inventory out of it … the other thing that happens is that your poor girl comes back with a tale of sexual assault by the aliens, but you see nothing more than her clothes ripped, and if you want to see the pictorial evidence you have to play that boring Butt Slam game endlessly and buy it off Kim Dotcom for some reason. The starting girl also kept running out of food and water in a couple of days and never brought more back from exploring, so I have no idea how you keep your company fed … the girl needs to sleep a weirdly long amount of time when returning from an exploration or mission as well.
Still, if some aspect of the game concept intrigues you the author is asking a mere $1.27 USD for the full game as of this writing, so it’s about as close to free as possible.
