Mucchi Muchi School Trip is an RPG Maker title that is a bit inexplicable at first; you just seem to be running around with a big titty girl who flashes pretty much every man she runs across and no RPG battles. But as the game develops, it turns out to be one of those uses of RPG Maker more as an adventure game/visual novel despite the inclusion of levels and equipment. The challenge that eventually reveals itself is navigating various fetch quest and flag-triggering chains to work your way to multiple endings.
The basic setup is that we’re in control of average student Ben on a four-day school trip to a hot spring resort area. Everyone is paired off with an Accountability Buddy and Ben gets Yutaka, a formerly mousy girl who just returned late from summer break or something and has done a whole lot of “developing.” Unfortunately nobody has yet taught Yutaka about the vile and grody ways of men and she’s far too free and loose with her new “assets” much to the chagrin of Ben, who basically acts like neurotic Morty from Rick & Morty.
So I’ll get one thing out of the way here, the whole age situation is definitely questionable. Nobody ever puts a number on anything but the game makes the unfortunate choice to represent the kids with peewee sprites that make them look more like kindergarteners (though this is clearly supposed to be Not High School). But Yutaka is drawn like she just came from her shift at the Bada Bing Club, and the art seems to be directly referential to Crayon Shin-Chan (which is parodied at least several times in the game), so the whole thing ends up in kind of a weird aesthetic place that’s like “Crayon Shin-Chan but the kids are in high school but we kept the same kindergarten art style for some reason, but not in the sex scenes where everyone looks like a grown adult.”
Anyway. The only player-character who gets down and dirty is Yutaka, who looks very adult, and she mostly runs around flashing the adult men of the town in her naivete. One of the key choices in the game is how far to take her down the path of degeneracy, with several endings you can limit her to flashing and the occasional “hand relief” to maintain her pure state.
One of the initially confusing elements is that Yutaka has stats, gains levels and can equip a few things bought from the store, but there are no RPG battles to be found. “Levels” instead come from her various indecent acts around town. There are actually a couple of fights you can get into, but they’re relegated to special optional endings toward the end of the game. So for most of the playtime you’re just gaining levels with no real idea you’ll ever use them.
The central narrative element is Yutaka’s quest for souvenirs to bring her family back home. The first three you find are just a required part of the plot, but there are a few beyond that that each lead to a unique ending. Most can be had without fighting, I think only two require fights, one of which is the Super Duper Secret one that requires you to finish the game some other way first and then replay.
Mucchi’s biggest strength is something of a charming game world and funny dialogue that’s written like a classic anime, though it’s a small place to roam and it gets a little repetitive that nearly every interaction with Yutaka leads to her finding a way to get her boobs out. On that note, the H graphics are repeated pretty frequently from kind of a limited set. All-in-all it’s kind of an entertaining and goofy little romp, but something that seems better suited for idle time on a phone rather than sitting at a computer to play.
