Succubus Fist is a little hard to understand at first. For one, there’s apparently no succubus. It’s also almost entirely in Japanese, including key menu options. The game does come packed with a screenshot that translates the menus, however, and playing around with its different options expands what initially just appears to be a kinda boring Kung Fu Master derivative.
So we play as Schoolgirl vs Shadow Pervs, there are an assortment of levels you go through (which are repeatable) that provide you with EXP as you tune up on the mooks that inhabit them. This can then be taken to a shop to buy new moves or upgrades to your HP, hitting power or special move meter.
For additional EXP, there is a set of training mini-games tucked away amidst the moon runes menu. These are almost more fun than the core game and have a bit of a Wario Ware quality, you do things such as use crackerjack timing to catch eggs, guide a balloon to a target with puffs of air, and so on.
The game sports a nice little move set, and you can equip a set of custom special moves that you buy. But it’s all kinda to little purpose as the game is so easy. The mooks are terrible fighters, only increasing mildly in health and hitting power as the levels go on. Each level is capped with a battle against the same Joe Higashi-lookin’ guy who just keeps changing outfits but never fights particularly well. And the special moves are almost totally unnecessary, just dump all your EXP into power upgrades and maybe HP here and there and it’ll take you through the game with ease.
With the repetitive enemies you also get kinda minimal H content. Some of the enemies sport a heart icon in each level, these can grab you and go to town for some simple sprite animation. The main headline is a full-screen animation after each boss; these are done in the style of old PC Engine CD games and are actually kinda charming (if lewd).
This one is probably at least as much about the fighting action and combo system as it is the somewhat simplistic lewds … also the general charm of feeling more like an old PC Engine or Sharp type game made with custom programming rather than one of the more typical modern games that come from the same limited set of engines. Also helps if you have a “gigantic udders” fetish as that’s the creator’s jam.
