The second “Girls Hunter” game once again does a pretty much complete “total conversion” of FireRed, but gives you a whole new region to explore. The story continues on from the first game as the main character from that one is now some wealthy big shot running her region and dispatches you, a new up-and-coming lesbian dominatrix, to another part of the world where there are rumors of Human Balls and missing girls surfacing.

Aside from giving you an entirely new adventure, Girls Hunter 2 adds a couple of new things to the mix. It makes more use of the “double battle” feature introduced in this generation, scattering them around as boss battles here and there. It also has a ton of new Pokémon that I’ve never seen before, whether they’re from later generations or just original creations I don’t know but I’ve played through Ruby at least and I don’t remember a whole lot of these guys.

I like that it has a tighter focus than the original game and requires less grinding, at least for a good chunk of the early game. There is an initial period of grindery as you need to catch a few decent Pokemon in the bushes and raise them a few levels to survive the initial dungeon and its boss, but after that you can cruise along for quite awhile just beating up the trainers scattered about to keep yourself sufficiently strong. The game did eventually run me off with a gym leader who stalls your forward progress and required grinding a bunch of Pokemon three or four levels to beat, however.

The thing I didn’t like is seeming increased unnecessary verbosity in the dialogue, this flared up a little in the first game but it’s much worse here. Got a whole “author rambling with one hand down his pants” thing going on a little too often, if you get me. It slows the game down when it already has a naturally slow framework to begin with. Less humor and more ryona-ish abuse of women too, your tastes may vary on that one.

But if you’ve got a little more time and tolerance for Grindan it’s a good one, if you cut the horny content it would have probably been a popular mainstream ROM hack for its general quality.
